Performers of ethnic music, homeless people, and their supporetrs, Google street view, self-expression through internet sites, the lives of ethnic minorities in Chine and Japan, whale fishing towns and the sea, and coal mining towns changed into tourist sites...
Apparemtly, it seems that each of the above settings is independent from the others; however, what would happen if they were fundamentally connected in terms of the knowledge and practices on the streets?
This question leads us not only into rushing to the streets of East Asia, seeing their reality, listening to, and giving descriptions about them, but also to producing a "Socioligical Documentary." Moreover, we aim at creating the "East Asian Streets Network," through the interaction and coordination between researchers and prectical people around the streets.
Yes, we will reconstruct the research itself and its process into "streets" free from those that are Western-centered!
